Messina's Pignolata

Messina's Pignolata  is a typical recipe of the Sicilian tradition which is prepared in particular on the occasion of the Christmas holidays or the Carnival. These are small pieces of dough that are fried (or in some cases cooked in the oven) and glazed, covering them with two different glazes, a white one with a lemon flavor and a black one with dark chocolate. The double color combination is one of the essential features to give life to this cake.

Ingredients: Biscuit, Type 0 flour, eggs, Orange (alcoholic flavouring), Lard, Seed oil.
Lemon Glaze: Sugar, Water, Glucose, Fondant Sugar, Egg Whites, Lemon Juice, Lemon Aroma.
Chocolate Glaze: Sugar, Dark Chocolate, Glucose, Water, Bitter Gianduia, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Cinnamon Flavor. Nutritional values per 100g: Energy value 379 Kcal / 1594 Kj, Proteins 3.5g, Carbohydrates 63g of which sugars 51g, Fats 11g of which saturated 4.8g, Fibers 1g, Salt 0.07g.
